Where to stay in Ios, Greece.
There are two main options that I would recommend when looking at where to stay in Ios, Greece.
-
Far out Beach club:
Far out is not as central to all the other clubs on Ios as it is down by Mylopotas Beach. It requires a short cab ride or a long walk to get to from the main town. However the upside is that Far out is itself, one of the best clubs on the island. If you don’t mind the cab ride or partying at Far out most nights then it could be for you.
-
Francesco’s
Francesco’s on the other hand is far more central to all the clubs and bars in Ios. It has an incredible pool looking out over the island and will be better suited to those wanting to spend most of their time in and around town. The downside is that it is further away from the beach, so if you want to prioritise beach time then Far out might be the better choice.

Ranging from chill out bars, to deep house clubs, Ios has something for everybody.

Lost Boys
Now as you might have seen in my previous article “Ios in off season”, I had a different experience to most who visit Greece’s own personal party island. Every night we went to Lost Boys, which is a bar in close proximity to all the others in town. It was not as much a club as the others we visited, so it was a perfect spot to drink, play beer pong and hang out before heading somewhere more party orientated. Being there in off season we got to meet and chill with the owners who are great company and have even been featured in the film clip of popular song by Mike Perry, The ocean. In my opinion they also have the coolest singlet of all the bars on the island which can be obtained by purchasing a bunch of shots and downing them all.

Slammer bar
Now if putting on a helmet, doing a shot and then getting slammed over the head with a large object sound more up your alley, I’ve got the perfect place. Slammer bar is a somewhat unique experience where you do indeed put on said helmet and get belted over the head with objects ranging from a bar stool to a fire extinguisher. Don’t expect for them to take it easy either. These bartenders seem to thrive on the vacant look in their victims eyes after they slug them over the head, which these people (myself included) have just paid them to do. All jokes aside this is another great bar in which we ended up becoming mates with the bartenders after our initiation into the “slightly less braincells than when we walked in here club” and partying with them later on that night after it had closed.
-
Shush bar
Once again check out “Ios in off season” for a more on my experience at Shush bar, but this place is awesome. It is a silent disco, which means there is no music playing inside the actual club, just on the personal sets of headphones you receive upon entering. This results in a hilarious night of attempting to find the channel that the one guy loving life is listening to, or the whole club all glowing the one colour as you dance to the same beat. I highly recommend removing your headset at some point during the night to hear the strange cacophony of voices breaking the otherwise eerie silence, all screaming different songs at the same time.
That’s It for my favourite places in Ios. I’m sure there are many other great places to visit that I cannot remember due to the intoxication, but visit these spots and you’re sure to have a great time. For a quick look at Europe, check out my Euro-trip video on my Youtube.
Don’t stop wandering.
